We seek to gather original work related to Sacred Space for a book to be published through CreateSpace. This book will offer perspectives which recognize the importance of nature, magic, intuition, animism, spirit, and personal experience. Our focus is both general writings on Sacred Space as well as Sacred Space in Seattle and close-by urban areas.
Contributions may encompass:
Any print media: drawings, photos, graphics
Personal narrative
Historical or eyewitness narrative
Other combination or miscellaneous style

Topics that might be addressed include (but are not limited to):
The Urban Sacred
The Seattle Ravenna boulder and other large stones
Ley lines in Seattle
Animals in relation to sacred space
A special tree or wood in Seattle including photos or artwork
Seattle energy vortexes
Feng Shui and dowsing
The history of specific sacred sites in Seattle
Personal narratives of interaction/observation with nature spirits
The relationship between sacredness and city life
The boundaries between sacred spaces and privatization of space
Culture which promotes sacred space
Personal narratives about an experience of sacredness
Sacred space as a symbol of revolution and struggle
Mythologies & folk tales
Hidden sacred Seattle, illegal sacred Seattle
Describe your favorite sacred space in Seattle
Healing narratives, locations
Sacred water in Seattle including wells, etc

Sacred gardens including Zen gardens, church gardens, etc
Sacred buildings in Seattle including chapels, churches
Poems about Sacred Spaces
Art, drawings, sketches, photos

Artwork and Photographs
We appreciate receiving any photographs and artwork. Submissions must have a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Please include the name of the photographer or the source. If your photograph contains people, please include a photography release. Please add a note to explain photos and artwork as this information will help us when we write captions.

Please send submissions and a short biographical statement (approx 300 words) to by May 31, 2014

There is no remuneration for editors and contributors as the book is a fundraiser for the Grove of the Scarlet Oaks
Authors/artists retain copyright to individual works
Books will be available for regular purchase on after publication.
